I really like our house but it
definitely has a really old feel to it. I'm trying to modernize it a little bit, but that can be difficult to do when you just spent all your savings on a down payment. So we are going for a more economical approach. I found the
tutorial HERE.
There is a lot of gold in my house. Ugly gold too. Here's the before.

OK that's not actually the before because I forgot to take a before picture and this is another light in my kitchen that looks similar. Just imagine two of these to make it even wackier. Got it? OK here's the after.
I did this one too. I almost forgot to take a before picture.

And . . . . . The after

I'm still trying to figure out what to do to replace the beaded lampshades. At least it is
less ugly.

Love it!! Looks like you bought them like that!!!
Nice! I've got a kitchen light just like that. I'll have to put it on my to do list!
Very well done!!! I'd still love to come over and visit. We just finished our daughters wedding and now are off in a few days to WA for a reception. Maybe after we can get together...along with Kathy.
Thanks for the link. Dan's going to try it on our fireplace grill thing
Allison those look trez fab and so chic!! Really. Can't you just remove the beads and add a cute ribbon around the top and bottom? But I'm super impressed!
I've heard of people modge podging lamp shades with scrapbook paper. I tried redoing a lamp by spray painting it silver, but it turned out looking tin-manish. Oh so tacky. Great job Allison!
